Ok I have just asked a question on tv and instead of asking who is the black girl I put coloured and got a stupid comment back. What do you right if you have to describe someone of an ethical nature. Ok I didnt have to put she was coloured at all, but just thought it would help.

I always have to tick the 'other' box on any forms, but I guess if i had to describe myself I would say mixed race. That being the case, as long as your intentions are not to discriminate, who cares? I mean, if that was all I had to worry about, I would be a very happy woman...!
I would have written black girl, can`t see what the problem is, don`t they use the term..Murdered Black Teenager..when refering to Stephen Lawrence on the news. I don`t hear any backlash over that.
I`d ignore any remarks in future, my friend at work who happens to be black....his own description btw...says he has no problem being called black, as is the case with many of his friends...its when it has the word b@stard after it which offends them the most

i don't think its offensive as such, just a bit old fashioned and most prefer the term black - however the ch1nky comment is a bit off because as far as i am aware chinese people generally don't like it, so you should not say it.
i was surprised to find that 'coloured' people have an ethical nature....or did you mean ethnic? lol

Don't worry about it 4getmenot! Someone will always pick up on what you say and turn it round and moan that you used the wrong word but 99.9% of the time its a white person moaning about it!!! My best mate is black and thats what I call him! I call him 'blacky' to his face. If it got to a point where he was offended he would let me know! I NEVER use it as a racist term! He is black. Its a fact!
I would not worry about it - some people just don't have anything better to do than try to upset someone.
OVER-Political correctness drives me mad. I would not complain if someone called me white and my skin is creamy/peachy/pink. Its just the way you describe someone isn't it.
Ignore the idiots - its not the first time I have seen the exact same "green/blue" daft comments on here

Morning Tiny. I see you carried on after I'd gone. Well just to set you straight I didnt put this to annoy that person they were the one who put it on my thread and after that I asked the question 'What do you write if you have to describe someone of an ethical nature' (although spelling pixie didnt catch me) as I wasnt sure I had been in the wrong for putting coloured. If people then wanted to create a backlash against that person as you put it then that is up to them, I cant force people to type. If you didnt want to get abuse yourself then you should have just explained first rather than come on here swearing. Many Thanks for your contribution :-)
hi 4getmenot (yes Im back), you been making waves again?
Tiny has a few issues with her bf by sound of her first post so i wouldnt take much notice.
the whole black / coloured thing is just an excuse for some to be over-PC. Its silly. As long as you are not using it in a racist manner or adding expletives or insults then what are you meant to use to describe a persons looks?
Someone called me Miss instead of Mrs the other day, wonder if theres a law against it?
