I think cranberry juice is meant to be good for it!
Go to the chemist and ask for some powder you mix with water for Cystitis (Cystamene - or something similar). Drink plenty of Cranberry Juice, but that wont cure alone, you need to go the chemist. You will feel better after a couple of doses.

Make sure you go, it will only get worse!
Yes Cranberry juice is good also cider vinegar if you can drink it diluted to 10 parts water.
Yep, Amber is right - although drink plenty of fluids in general. I know it'll make you go' more but that is a god thing.
Hope you feel ok soon .
*good* sorry - think maybe my kiddies have spilled something on my keyboard !
Drink loads of cranberry juice it acts like an antiseptic. However I always found (although some books say don't)that lots of weak tea helped, it was warming on the tummy and makes you wee a lot so helps shift the infection. Try and drink caffeine free though or you'll be climbing the walls. If it's uncomfortable a warm bath is soothing too.
If it last more than 24 hours go and see the doctor though.
Lots of water and cranberry supplements are supposed to be good - as is having a wee before and after sex, according to something on telly last night!
My old doctor put me on 2 pints of lemon barley water a day and no tea/coffee. It worked !
oooh poor you, drink lots & lots of water, get some of that cystisis powder medicine and always wipe front to back ....
and go to the toilet as regular as possible.i used to think being able to go for hours without having a wee was a sign of a strong bladder and had recurring bouts of cystitis. Now I make sure I go as soon as I'm ready and haven't had an attack for a few years.Good luck, it's a painful infection I know!
I a m just getting over that..very uncomfortable. Although I would agree with most, avoid caffiene, drink plenty of water, pee after sex etc etc. The best thing I done was go to the doctors. I was on tablet for three days and I am pain free now!
a spoonful of bicarbonate of soda in a large glass of water
According to my doctor, the remedies you can buy over the counter only get rid of the symptoms, they do not get rid of the infection that comes with cystitis. Drinking a lot of water or cranberry juice certainly helps the symptoms and gradually the cystitis infection can die down on its own but it may take wuite some time. It can also just lie dormant and come back soon after again. To get rid of it properly and quickly, go to your doctor and he/she will prescribe an antibiotic. That together with the intake of lots of water and cranberry gets rid of it within a day or so totally. At least that is my experience. Hope you feel better soon.
Agree completely with Carakee. Unless you go to doctors and get antibiotics or whatever it is they give you, you never get rid of the infection completely.

Unfortunately the stuff they give you at the docs also gives you thrush 9 times out of 10 as it upsets the flora in your vagina so you might as well pop along to the chemist and get some canesten in stock too.
My mum suffers and I was there when she spoke to her doctor about it last week. He told us there's been a recent study done that proves drinking a glass of Cranberry Juice every day can reduce the incidence of cystitis significantly.

There are powders you can buy from the chemist, but they're more expensive than cranberry juice and they taste foul.
My doctor told me that cranberry juice is not actually any better for you than water, and its just a matter of getting as much fluid as possible into you.

She also told me that anything including water counts towards your intake, including tea and diluting orange.

There are over the counter remedies (talk to the pharmacist) but none of them worked for me, but the dose of anti biotics I got from the doctor relieved the symptoms within a day
cranberry juice or bicarbonate of soda (teaspoon) disolved in water. dilutes the acidity in your bladder. stay away from caffeine and drink plenty of water.
