my 8year old has aspergers (my spelling is crap)i heard that a doctar in the usa said that if you carrie a child over your due date this could be the cause of it i carried taylor for 43weeks and 2days dose anyone know if this is true thank you

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.I haven't heard of this concerning Asperger's.I wouldn't read into it too much since it was one doctor.If you are really concerned, you can always look at the latest research online which would involve studies carried out over a number of years.It's one of those conditions, as well as autism, that are continuing to baffle the medics with no clear evidence as yet of what causes it.
I carried my eldest a fortnight after his due date and he has undiagnosed aspergers (ie he showed all the symptoms, but the education system wouldn't recognise it when he was at school)
The doctors said I gave birth to my youngest a week early, but I know he was on time (because I know when I conceived). He's never shown any traits of having AS.

my son is 15 and has AS, emergency C section after being in labour for 36hrs he was blue and whisked away to have airways cleared, no one has ever suggested that this may have been the cause, but it's got me thinking. Would love to talk with someone with a child of a similar age or older for ideas and advice with further education and generaly coping with living with a teenager with AS
