When I go out with the boys my missus will ask what time I will be home - which if fine, but why do I always say oh I'll be home a ten then go out have a few beers get scared to call her and say I want to stay out longer, turn my phone off and suffer the consequences later.

If you just said then Im sure shed let you, if not then shes being very selfish, its your life but us women just like a bit of common courtesy from time to time.
How about you tell her you'll be on the last bus/trian home? that way, you're out till last call yet she's not worried you're out clubbing it and flirting with other ladies.
Save the dancing for her, drinking with your pals till closing time, everybody wins and no one feels insecure because they can't reach you by phone.
Switching your phone off is going to get you into all kinds of trouble. Even if you're innocent.

My hubby does call to let me know, par example, last time he went out "for a couple" and "would be home by ten" but rolled in at 4am, I wasn't p*ssed off about the fact he was later than he said because he had text /called to say so, but wanting an indepth chat and stinking of kebab doesn't do a lot for me.
When I go out, I ring hubby to let him know where I am and when I will be home, I ring him when I am leaving town too. There is so much trouble in towns, and lots of knife crime where we live (two stabbings on our estate last night alone, a total of six stabbings and a boy of14 being shot in the eye with an air rifle in the past 2 weeks alone!), so it makes me feel safer to know that he is ok.
There was an occassion where we were out together and set upon and spent 7 hours in A&E, and I would hate for that to be going on and me not know.
Mr Tall, ring Mrs Tall and just let her know. If she starts nagging, then you have the choice of putting down the phone but at least you tried!

I agree with 4getmenot - I only get annoyed when I'm told by my fella that he's going for a couple and will be back by 10pm when I know and he knows it never works that way. I know his intentions are good though and he always means to come back!
Can you not arrange to go out with your mates on the same night as each other then you won't have to worry about her sitting in waiting? Or give her 20 and tell her to get her girly mates round for a chinese and a bottle of wine or 2?
