i am 5' 6'' and 15 stone. I am overweight and dont feel any different to when I weighed 11 stone. If I weighed the 8 stone i shold be I'd look anorexic. I eat healthily, i rarely eat chocolate or rubbish and I have one take away a month.
I do a food diary every day and I still cannot fathom why i am so large. i dont skip breakfast and I eat fruit throughout the day and drink 2 litres of water. I have skimmed milk and only have sugar in coffee (1tsp). I have a bad back from an old injury so thats not even from my weight.
You are not overweight just to short for your weight, if you 6ft tall your weight would be fine.
Hi lynneylou - yes I am afraid I am about the same as you .
5ft 6 ins and 12 and 1/2 stone.
Lost a couple of stone a year and a half ago and felt so much better than I do now. Diet is consequently starting today !

I feel that my health is slowly going down hill! I currently have haemarroids, bleeding irregular from my usual 6wks cycle and dr just told me that my liver enzymes slightly high????? I am 36 and feel very down and no energy. I drink about 6pts of water a day, only have semi-skimmed milk in the occasional decaf coffee, dont drink or smoke!! Also I have been told I have polycystic ovaries?????
my cycle has gone from 28 days to 35 but this may not be a sign of being overweight and just it being your age. there is something called a pre-menopause which I seem to have a lot of symptoms of. so I now have that to look forward to. Ratter your right I am vertically challenged. Did you remember that off a previous thread- good memory.
It's ok saying you don't eat much etc etc but how much exercise do you take (I'm not being funny)? You really need to balance the calories youre taking on board against the amount youre using up by exercising. Youre weight will come down if you use up more than you take in.

Having said that, I wouldnt have thought 12.5 st was that overweight? I think my wife was about that (I'm not going to ask her!) before she fell pregnant and I think she's a great shape.

Perhaps more exercise (if you dont take much) and a visit to the docs if youre feeling generally under the weather?
Your BMI is only just on the overweight/obese category but remember you have to take waist measurement into account too.

It's only generally thought a problem if your waist measurement is over 35" for women or 40" for men.

Sounds like you might benefit from some excercise?

I don't know about you but I've always found things like the gym or running or swimming mind blowingly boring -

I'm 5'10" and when I was 32 I was about 16 st with a 40" waist - I gave up drinking (which was a different problem but it helped my weight) and I took up a martial art.

Now 10 years later I'm 14 st (officially still overweight) but with a 34" waist and much fitter.

Now martial arts aren't for everyone I know but starting a sport with other people is a great way of keeping commitment and struggling through on those days when you're not 100%

Think about it, it could make all the difference
I am 5ft 2 and weigh 12.2 stone. Up until a year ago I weighed 9.00 - I am anti depressants, which I dont think help, but I feel so uncomfortable, i now have 2 spare tyres. try as I might I dont have the will power to do anything about it, Yet I am so unhappy with it.
no such thing as a diet,,,,,,just try changing what you eat,,,,,cut out crap; i:e,,,choc,,,buscuits,,,cakes,,,eat low fat dinners,,,and try muller rices for afters,,,plenty fruit,,and veg, if you dont like gyms ,,,try running up and down stairs 10 times a day (up & down is 1) cereal in morns ,,lunch jacket spud with beans or colslaw,,normal dinner what ever you want,, you will loose weight,,i reckon a stone in yr first month,,,do the exersize though,,,,,,also if you can,,walk to places you would normaly drive to (if you drive,,,and if under a mile)try it ,,it will work,,if hungry at night eat fruit,,,,and dont eat after 8 o"clock......
Spanner, your BMI = 34. Anything above 30 is considered obese. You might be feeling ok at the moment, but it still can have negative side effects change in cycle is one, facial hair, skin problems etc. It's never too late to lose a few pounds.

Lynneylou, like Jake said you are edging close to obesity. And it is so easy to cross that line but so much more difficult to go back. Why not start now that way you have that little bit less to do than if you were another stone heavier.
