Shooting pain in elbow

I often rest my elbow on a hard surface, at work or (bad manners) on the dinner table and I've recently noticed this weird shooting pain. It feels like I have rested my elbow on a drawing pin. Upon investigation, my elbow feels like it has a dint in it. To be honest, this could have occured when tipsey as I'm very clumsy after a few drinks ;o)

I think I may have bashed it and dislodged a small bit of bone or gristle which feels sharp when compounded against a hard surface. Is this a reasonable theory? Do you think it is worth seeing my doc about?

Thanks :o)

I chipped my elbow a few years back balancing on a tiny fence in 5 inch heels, duh, all done whilst drunk and only noticing it a day later. They just gave me a sling and it stopped hurting in a matter of a week or so.
Does it only hurt if you put pressure on it or when say you are carrying something heavy as well. I only say this because i had something similar, it turned out to be tennis elbow! (silly term really, especially applied to me, the original couch potato)
