Can we then assume that the people who said "yes if anything happened to my family" agree with bringing back the death penalty?

No, I wouldn't assume that John.... I do not agree with bringing back the death penalty.

I was thinking of a scenario in which I would have to kill to defend myself or a family member rather than getting revenge for a death.

That is murdering with intent, a completely different scenario to the previous Q& A.

And no, although often I feel some harbingers of heinous crimes deserve it, I do not agree with bringing back the DP.

As I've said, in the heat of the moment, the act itself is easy, I wondered, whether, in the cold sober light of day, someone would kill/main someone who had hurd a loved one?

This post is flawed and hypocritical. If it was a shallow attempt to advocate your views on death penalty (or capital punishment if you prefer to lose the head) then fair enough, thats your perogative. But surely the purpose of such acts is to dissuay the public from carrying out the ppropriate crimes, which you yourselves would be perpetuating.

If you wish to live in a society which advocates the DP, you are very welcome and have the freedom to do so. I lived in Riyadh for quite some time, I am sure you would be more than living happy next to chop chop square on a Friday afternoon, or perhaps you could wander down and enjoy your tea and biscuits whilst watching a display of Al-Had.

No I am very anti-death penalty, but happy to acknowledge my own personal flaws and own up to the fact that actually killing someone is not something that would be out of the question for me. I would not however be in favour of a return to capitol punishment as I am not saying for a minute that my being able to kill someone is morally ok, just trying to be honest that yes I could.
