meeting women
7 Answers
Hello all,
I have broken up with my long term partner a few months ago. I want to get on with my life, but I'm not sure what to do next with regards meeting someone.
I have never been good at the dating scene, and don't really like clubs. I work in a very male orientated office (and field in general) - so its very unlikely i would meet someone that way.
Hobbies that I have are fairly individual, rather than group things.
Where is a good place to meet women, and what is a good ice breaker that does not sound cheesy.
Does internet dating sites work?
I just want to move on and meet someone, and get a bit of fun back in my life.
Cheers

I met my husband on one 5 years ago after being on my own for ages. We emailed for a couple of months then met up and got on really well from the start. I would say its a great way of getting to know someones likes/dislikes before actually meeting them-give it a go! Good luck and best wishes :) Maz xx
Hey :) Sounds like you may need a bit of me time before you launch straight into a relationship to replace the other one honey :)
Why not just broaden your social horizons and have some fun and met people in general and chances are that special someone will appear when you least expect it by which time you're happier in yourself and ready to start a relationship with them for the right reasons.
Dating sites are good, I'm on a couple my self (been single for a looong time though) but as well as the good parts you are also setting yourself up with potentially a large amount of rejection too. It may not be the best thing for you at the mo if you're feeling vulnerable relationship wise.
Why not devote some time to concentrating on you and enjoying single life then if you are still single in say 6 months try the dating sites.

Check out http://www.friendsreuniteddating.co.uk/ yes they do work. Just look for friends first and think about a relationship later maybe, don't rush into anything, just take life slowly for a while.
Potentially you can meet women anywhere, of course, but if you're aim is to find someone with whom you might share the rest of your life with - or at least a good part of it - then, speaking as a man in his sixties and his second marriage, my advice to you would be to look for someone who shares at least one of your interests or leisure pusuits with the same amount of enthusiasm as you.
Yes, you may find such a person via dating agencies, but why not improve your prospects by joining relevant clubs or societies, groups, etc, relating to all your hobbies and interests. If there are few in your location, try internet sites with forums, and get chatting with lots of like-minded people.
Good luck!
