calling all women!!
7 Answers
To the female ABer's: What are some questions or topics that you like to talk to men about (or like to have men ask you or say to you) when first meeting and talking with them in a social setting? I get pretty "deep" in my thinking, and do not want to scare women off by coming across as a "hopeless romantic," or seeming to get "too absorbed" in women. I'm a single 26-year-old guy with no roommates, will graduate with an MS degree soon, I try to be compassionate toward others, and am interested in meeting like-minded women.

The best way for anyone to establish a rapport with someone else, either gender, to show that they're interested in them - ask about their lives, what they enjoy doing, what they hope for the future etc. And the most important thing is to listen intently, and ask questions that show you're listening and are interested in what they're saying.
Please, please be yourself. It can be really difficult to find out that the person you thought that you were interested in doesn't exist and was just an alter ego assumed by someone who thought that was what you wanted. If you behave differently from how you normally are, when are you going to let the poor girl see the "real" you???
I agree with woofgang - the whole point is for two people to find something in common with each other, so you have to be yourself. Otherwise you won't know if she's interested in you or the person you're trying to be.
Personally i like chatty intelligent funny men, and there is nothing more flattering than someone showing a genuine interest is what you're like. Even if it doesn't lead anywhere.
Good Luck.
