OK- rant time

We've had a few posts from a 15 year old asking for advise, and what do the majority of people do? Take the pi$$ and make snide comments regarding her grammar and spelling!

This is what B&S has become? A 'Rip em apart unless we know and approve of them' Section?

Yes there's a very slim chance that it might be someone attempting to take the mickey out of us with an alias. However I'd rather look a twonk and try to help them than take the pi$$ out of a vulnerable kid.

What about if this kid has no one else she can talk this freely to about her problems? Can we say we've helped her??

OOh I hate the petty people who comment on spelling & grammer, and as the WORST speller on AB it is an issue close to my heart. I bet I can guess who it was...

*admarlow runs off to take a look*
Good for you Boo, for saying that, it needed saying, thats one of the reasons I hardly, if ever, take the mickey out of someone on here, if I could, i'd give you a dozen stars, and bunch of flowers for saying what you have just done.
Spot on BOO ! why do some people take the pI$$ out of newcomers and the young ones? EG -the post on "A budget wedding"
*admarlow runs back in out of breath*

I looked everywhere but couldn't find it, don't know weather or not to retract my ''usual suspects'' comment!?!?
Question Author
Well got to admit Patricia I didn't offer useful advise re the wedding post...I just jumped in filled with alarm that he/they were thinking of using goldfish as table decorations!!
You spelt 'advise' wrong.
BOO I know you wont name and shame but what thread is it? (I can give some polite advice then) T.I.A xxxxxx
B00,

If it is dejucrazy you are refering to,why is it on the "freak me out" question it was quite well written, but most of the other questions posted, are illegible, I think it is them doing the winding up.
Question Author
Exactly Llamatron whilst I come pretty close, no ones perfect are they? LOL

admarlow the posts I'm referring to are in the R&D bit of 'ere, from someone called dejacrazy or something similar.
admarlow: was that weather or whether? sorry I just had to do it, lol ,no offence!! I cant spell either, so I spell check everything with the Google spell checker, Saying that it would not have picked up admarlows little error, as it is spelled correctly, just wrong application.
Question Author
I wouldn't say they were illegible ray, just poorly written......that's not a crime is it? If it's genuine it's from a 15 year old kid for crying out loud...how good do you expect their spelling and grammar to be????
Hi everyone. I agree that people shouldn't take the Pi$$ out of questions that are posted in a serious way, especially those posted by newcomers to the site. But you must admit, it is sometimes hard to keep a straight face. You are right though, Boo. Far too much of this goes on when someone does actually need help. It can discourage the young and the newcomers from using the site, so caution is definitely called for. Those of us who are used to using the AB take everything with a pinch of salt, but even we do sometimes get hurt by nasty or silly comments. Thanks for bringing this up BOO. Big hug! :o) xx
lol ratters, I just think everyone know what I am trying to say so why bother, and if people wish to be pedantic well thats their prerogative (ha ha I did check that!! just for a laff!!)
BOO you were only thinking of the liccle fishes welfare :) lol

Spelling? he he
B00, I don't expect it at all but it should be consistant, take a look at the "freak me out" post about dreaming of a fire, that is written quite well completelt different to the others, why is it they can write clearly on some questions and really badly on others, that is all I am saying.
oohh!! maybe there is a conspiricy afoot, maybe she is the new Juddlinski?, appologies to both sides if I am wrong. But BOO does bring up a good point neather the less.
Question Author
Get your point ray and of course it's your prerogative to be suspicious...........but.......wouldn't you feel slightly ashamed if they were genuinely asking for our advice (<<< right one this time!)

I'm not having a dig at anyone in particular here either, I'm just cheesed off that this category is becoming a "if ya names not on the list you're not coming in" section. It's somehow become the norm to take the pi$$ out of a new users posts.....because God forbid you might be taken in by an alias.
I see what you mean now B00. Is this a welcoming site ? No, not really. But the funniest and most pathetic thing is that the pi$$-takers so often commit the most appalling syntax and spelling disasters themselves.

B00, of course I would, I have been guilty a few times of giving flippant answers, and if a question was genuine I would apologise, and I have done,I normally try my best to give correct and proper answers, but I know I don't get it correct every time, wish I could, cheers B00. xx
Well I have always thought you had to be in some sort of club to get on with others on this site, e.g masons, scouts.....
however, i have seen some credible replies off a certain few and take my hat off to them for being understanding and thoughtful. I know i have asked some terrible questions in some peoples eyes, and have answered totally disrespectably to others, but all in all we are only human and aren't part of some super brain-box club like a few people think they are. Stop being so self-important you misery-gutted bore-mongers and be a bit lighter in the future!!
