I have always been suspicious of the BMI measurement but was particularly suspicious recently when I read that the BMI makes no distinction between men and women. Surely the "ideal" weight for a woman of 6ft2 would be less than a man of 6ft2 yet no distinction is made with BMI? A man would surely carry more muscle weight than a woman.

The BMI has been discredited as a useful measure. It takes no account of body composition. You can be under weight but over fat, or over weight and lean, it's just total borrocks.

Watch the rugby on Saturday all the players will be at least obese by the BMI measure, madness!
