come on, thats not like you...
- that was exactly my point with the victorians!... we only know because it is the 21st century and we have the technology to find out, so how can we have been expected to do anything about it before now?
it was sort of rhetorical
theland claimed people were starving in the world because we won't feed them...
i was being sarcastic about the god made the world too - my point being its ok to blame man for all the ills in the world, but if god made the world then he made that bit of it barren, arid and diseased, not us

The only FACT here is that separated is not spelt seperated. Please don't bless me with your God Theland, when I don't believe in him.
Why is it that many religious people want to preach the doctrine to you, yet non religious people don't go around telling people not to believe?
Goodnighty to those going to beddy byes xxx
OH and naz - Bob Dylan is a God to me xxx

I'm struggling with Theland's whole concepts which seem to be changing before my very eyes as I talk to him, something I've always found with Christians to be honest.
On the one hand he's telling everybody that God is a person, an individual, who made man in his exact image, and then he suddenly says oh no he's not he's this trinity belief system and you can't understand that ( despite being made in God's image), so is God a bit dense, or did he deliberately make us a bit thicker than him so we were easier to manage? None of this makes sense to me at all, and if anything is making me more sure that God, as represented in the bible, just doesn't exist. So if me speaking to Theland, as he says, is part of God's eternal plan to bring me back into the fold, then it's really not working.

Yes, LeChat it was a very good statement. Too often posts get ignored/pushed aside/not read by the masses whilst the general debate amongst just a few seem to be the only ones recognised. I looked back on all the posts last night to see if Theland awarded stars to the ones most deserving (regardless of the opinions aired), and thought it such a shame that onlookers cannot show their appreciation/agreement etc by awarding stars, say in a blue colour on the right side of the post. Alas he did not award the ones most worthy, but can be forgiven (in a non-religious way lol) as being new to AB and also overwhelmed with replies.
Sorry for not awarding stars and as you say I'm new to AB
Regarding the Holy Trinity, God is a person, but his "Threesomeness" is impossible for us to understand as we do not have the capacity to take it in. We will one day.
His creation, however, reflects His character, so we find a "Threesomeness" in all of creation.
eg Matter is solid, liquid or gas. Time is past, present and future. Space is length breadth and depth.
So, yes, God is a person.
Sorry for not replying to one or two, I'll try to put that right, but there was a lot of thinking and writing to do.

Le Chat - Sorry to get back to you so late. Just re-read your message - three stars apart from the last line.
Yes you are spot on. God does not usually interfere in Mans free will, but can interact with the world in spite of it. If He did interact and overrule, then we would be mere puppets.
None of you are puppets on strings are you?

Theland...I really must take issue with you on some points.First of all exactly where in the bible does it state that god is a trinity? The trinity is a pagan concept and many pre christian religions have trinities of gods--the Egyptians had Osiris, isis and horus. The hindu's have Brama, vishnu and shiva. The fact is , is that the trinity was VOTED on to be the correct doctrine. Its extremly hard to prove a trinitarian god from the bible. There is no mystery when you know a little church history.Secondly you say that god doesnt interfere in the affairs of man.It seems that you havnt read the bible where god continually meddles in mens affairs. Finally I would like to know where Satan fits into all of this. Why would god cast a fallen angel down to his perfect garden of eden to tempt adam and eve.I dont mean to be sarcastic theland but these are questions that I asked years ago when I first started to read the bible for myself, as opposed to believing what christians told me.Reading the bible cover to cover for myself was a real eye opener...
Wizard 69 - The three persons of God are inferred from the scripture, God the Father, Jesus his Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Genesis 1 and John 1 shed light on this.
God "meddles" as you say, but by leaving Man to make his own choices. We are not puppets.
God "meddled" in Egypt to free His people, but Phaero, his heart hardenend, still made free choices.
Satan put his will above Gods will. You'll appreciate, I'm sure that time and space precludes a fuller answer but i'll try to get back to it.
