just one question tho, they say if you drink a couple of pints of water before you go to bed, this will benefit you hangover wise the next day, but if you arrive home totally drunk, how many of you manage to drink water, i just sit down with something to eat, flicking through the TV channels, then its lights out for me

I got far too drunk on Saturday night, still suffering now. I used to be fine the next day after a breakfast and a lot of orange juice, but yesterday I spent the whole day clutching my head, and today I am still very jaded. I'm only 27, I hate to think how long a hangover will last when I reach say 40.
How bad is the hangover, and in the head, or in the stomach (much worse!).
If you can afford to write off the day, maybe Sunday, go on a long walk and take with you 2-3 bottles of Underberg bitters. This stuff floats on your stomach like a soothing balm. If you drink 3 and walk hard, you'll be sorted (although slightly sozzled again) within a few hours.

2-3 days.
at 18 -25 i never got a hangover at all, even though i drank to excess on nights out.
Since then its got worse and worse and a night out could leave me suffering for days. Following the birth of my child i hardly ever drink and drink very little when i do. I can now suffer a hangover from one drink about 2 hours after drinking it but if i was to get drunk i can still be suffering 2 days later.

I'm bizarrely quite good when I'm drunk go into autopilot, drink lots of water, eat some chocolate, make sure i take all my make up off etc...
Always try to eat something decent before i go out drinking. Went on some impromptu drinks a few weeks ago having not eaten very much and felt horribly rough the next day!

Stella does really help. Unfortunately, it's not easy to drink. Once the first one's down it get's a lot easier to breath etc ;-) Much easier with Reef/Smirnoff Ice
For a non-alcoholic alternative, I find a pint of milk and a Mars Bar helps.
I remember the days when I used to be able to finish work on Friday at 3, go to pub til closing time (12-12.20ish usually), then get up for work at 7 next morning no problem.
Weds and Thurs mornings aren't usually fairly useless at work now (after darts and pool) and I don't usually go out til about 8!
I'm sure they're adding more chemicals to beer now than they used to - can't be anything to do with me getting older.

Tried and tested 'hangover advoidance cure'.
Before you go out for the night leave a pint of water beside your bed mixed with a sached of diorolyte (sp). this will replace all the salts and nutrients you need and the water will re-hydrate you. You don't have to drink it all at once when you go to bed as, lets face it, you might not remember to do it. But if you wake up in the middle of the night it is there for you. Works a treat. Followed by a big fry up the next day and a longish walk.
