please indulge me this rant, i have a young son who works very hard, just over a year ago he bought his first car , a nippy wee golf g t i . he is not a boy racer would never drink and drive and insured, always willing to assist with transport if he could. 2 days ago his car was taken from outside his workplace in a busy city centre in broad daylight, he had recently upgraded his sound system at great cost.. the insurance company have offered him 2000 pound less than he expected to get if he had sold his car, his attitude has been and i know for my sake so i wont be too upset is to say worse things could happen. upshot is we as a family will be without transport over the xmas ant new year , so my question is is this the xmas spirit than i am sooooo very angry at whoever took his car? thanks.

It's so upsetting especially for younger people whose cars are their pride and joy. As everyone else has said for heavens sakes stick out of a good offer from the insurance, don't whatever you do take what they offer the first few times, as they always try it on.
Your son has a very healthy attitude and that'll serve him well through life and I really do hope it all gets sorted out for him without him ending up massively out of pocket.

I have every sympathy with your son and agree with the answers here. However, did your son inform the insurance company that he had spent so much money on the sound system? If not it would explain their low offer. Insurance companies always offer for the lowest spec.
Good luck with your claim and have a good Christmas.
