dentists - would they deliberately do a bad job to get your future custom?

Hi,

I suspect my dentist doesn't do a great job on my teeth, just a passable one, in order to allow for future problems - to keep him in business.

obviously I am not an expert in the ways of the dentist, but I have had more problems than ever since i began seeing this one about 8 years ago, and it just seems that things are not as good as they should be.

every time I go to see him, if i am unemployed at the time, he tries to give me a gold filling.
I now have 3 and they all are sensitive, gappy and awkward in my mouth, and also keep coming loose.

he has ignored me when i told him of a tiny brown hole in one tooth, saying he couldn't see it.

do you think this could be possible and if so, what can i do about it?

many thanks

Try and change your dentist. They do sound a bit dodgy. Mine always says right then go through for an X-ray - every time I go in (once every 6 months). I then point out I had one last time and she says 'oh yes no need then'

Tough titties to her then 20 quid she's not getting. By the way have you noticed dentists only drive flash cars. Hmmmm now where does the money come from!!!!!!
I think Athley it comes from the fact that I was charged 190 for a total of 30mins work!!! Not a bad hourly rate
Good God thats criminal!!!!

Pull all your teeth out of your head it would be cheaper!!!

Lets watch the dentists drive around in Del Boy Trotter 3 wheelers cars!!!
I used to have a dentist whom, when I was pregnant, managed to do quite a bit of cosmetic work on my lousy teeth, because I could get it free and he got paid for it. He did a good job and I'm not complaining.

I don't think any dentist would deliberately do a bad job just to get you back again - they have to take the same oath as doctors, and to do so would be totally unethical. You just have to accept that some take more pride in their work than others. I know my own dentist is a bit of a perfectionist - she won't leave a 'job' until it's 100%, and says she likes a challenge - she gets plenty of those where my teeth are concerned!
my dentist is free....
Is that because you are in the Navy?
yes ummm.......
I think its possible to have a bad dentist. Not that some are deliberately giving bad treatment, but they are just bad at their job.
