when blokes go to docs for a check up and they cup his bits and say cough what is this actually checking for?

I had this done about 10 years ago at my army medical by a nurse who looked about 90 and couldnt of weighed much less. I really dont know why they do it i believe it is to check one testicle is lower tham the other

i always thought it was to check if they had dropped, more than likely wrong though seeing as mens dangly bits arent my speciality!!

surely it cant be to check they are level, why would you cough? If it is for hernia how does coughing check for that?

My gran used to call us cough drops, would that be rellevant to this procedure i wonder??????

The coughing that you asked about isn't a way to detect testicular cancer ... it's just a hernia test ..

In all seriousness - I don't think this procedure can be half as embarrassing or uncomfortable, than a women having her breasts squashed between two freezing cold plates for an x-ray! I'd much rather cough!

MrBen - most men have one testicle larger/smaller than the other - the same as most women's breasts.

It's quite common with feet too.

Having said that, anyone with any medical concerns regarding testicles or breasts should see their Doc or Practice Nurse in the first instance.

I say this, as I have had two friends who found lumps in their breasts but were too afraid to go to the Doc's -unfortunately for them & their families, they had left it too late.

My other friend had a lump checked in the very early stages & after many months of treatment (also losing her hair), she is fine & now back to work. Thank God.

Eric I knew someone that tried by putting his legs under a radiator to help him sit up but he couldnt reach. As for the question had a girly night round mine at weekend and my mate just came out with it, if you thought I was weird you dont want to know what goes on in her head. And smudge surely the smear is alot worse than the breast examination
