if say your were in an accident or such like, would you want to be recussatated (sorry for my spelling)? Also if you were recussatated and then went into a come or became braindead, how would you feel if your life support machine got switched off? would you be angry at your relatives for deciding to do that?

I had a friend who was in an accident. In a coma for about six months. They told his family that he was brain dead and wanted to turn the machines off. His mother refused. He came round......Although not quite the same person he was before.....he was fine. Very forgetful but fine
He committed suicide about ten years later

A doctor will always try and resuscitate a person but my next of kin know that if I am severely brain damaged that they will obey my wishes that life support is switched off. My doctor has my wishes on file and as I understand from her any doctor takes a living will into consideration. If I was brain dead then of course I am dead but if I was incarcerated in a shell, drip fed and kept alive because of the medical ethics and laws then my next of kin and doctor know my wishes if the circumstances arose and I would never be angry at people speaking for me and for my wishes that I would be unable to say for myself..
If I were in a vegetative state I would want my family to let me go.
My mother is a nurse and used to specialise in geratrics. She said lots of the patients had DNR on their records but families would often override this. She would have to explain that doing CPR on a little old lady with osteoporosis would most likely break their ribs and sternum and cause a lot of pain but the people would rather overlook these repercussions than let go.

My granny (after having breast cancer 3 times) and my mum (after having breast cancer once) both now have DNRs.
When my mum showd me hers well its called a "statement of intent" it was a horrible thing to read but we talked about it and thats what she wants.
I have to agree, I cant stand the thought of being kept "alive"by machines
