Intolerance
69 Answers
If there's one thing really ticks me off it's intolerance. Nothing makes me so intolerant of someone than if they show a lack of tolerance for others:)
I've just answered yet another quesiton showing huge ignorance, bigotry and intolerance for a racial group and it's really made my blood boil.
So my question is this, I have huge faults but disliking people because of their sex, ethnicity, orientation, racial group, religious group etc isn't one of them. Are you prejeudiced against any group if you really are honest?

You don't even know who Gerry Adams is, so stop trying to be all sensitive and turn yet another thread in to a wardy slanging match to satisfy you petty existence of an unpopular and quite unliked human being.
Sorry noxy, but I can not post anything without some snide comment by the peasants.

Boro, this is nothing to do with what Gerry Adams did or didn't do, I find it offensive that he can come on here and wish death on someone and their family then when someone disagrees with his post he launches a personal and unwarranted attack on them. Noxlumos' question was about intolerance and if you were prejeudiced against any one GROUP, he did not ask who you would wish to die.
I am so sorry, yet again another thread has turned in to a pathetic show.
Crete does not hold opinions, she is too thick, She posted a remark in an attempt to excite a response, which she has done, Anytime I post anything, whether deemed offensive or not, she comments in a negative way.
Oh look 9 answers and counting.
I am ashamed. Please let mine be the last on the subject of my honesty and let the thread continue with the original intentions.
Many thanks

Well with regard to whoever asked about shia and sunni militants killing British soldiers in Iraq, I think it's very regrettable but wholly to be expected when you invade someone else's country. I have no hate for them because I think most of us would be prepared to kill Iraqi soldiers if they invaded the UK. You cannot go against human nature and it's natural not to want to be invaded.
With regards to Gerry Adams, etc etc, he's an individual so that's not really what I'm talking about, unless you want to nuke him bc he's a Catholic. I don't like Ian Paisely, in fact that's probably understatement of the year, but that's because he's a war mongering dinosaur that rejoices in hate and violence, not because he's a Prodi. I like Warpig and Umm perfectly well, both Irish protestants, and also my brother's girlfriend, again a NI Protestant, but Pasiely can burn in hell. Not what I'm driving at at all.

Well that is rather defeatist IAP.
I would have thought that you have been through tougher times than before now at an interpersonal level and no just through cyberspace. Does this mean that the belligerent racist, homophobic and ignorant masses get the upper hand?
If I must decide if I am prejudiced against anyone, then I suppose it would have to be anyone who disagrees with my views and my lifestyle. But then if they were the opposite, I would have no-one to dislike and nothing to shout about to make myself heard.
Successful debate requires input from all sides of the argument and I am sure your input will be missed, but if you feel you must go, then, Amen.

I have thought about this before I respond nox, and I try really hard to have no predjudices at all. I succeed as far as ethnic groups or communities are concerned, no problem with that, but I do tend to make snap judgements instinctively, based on appearence, but my thinking mind takes over imediately, and I banish the thought straight away.
I conclude that judging people on appearence is human nature, but carrying it through into predjudice requires concious thought, and there is choice involved, so on that basis, I have no real predudices at all. God, that looks so sanctimonious in print - but that's how we communicate on here - we know each other well enough for you to pick the bones of meaning out of this post.

As I said, Noxy the republican view is akin to the British with regards to values, morality and life in general. take away politics and there is no difference.
On a serious note though I find it interesting that the tolerances mentioned, religion race etc are fairly consistant with general tolerances.
For example, the tolerant friends I have would also allow their lawn to grow a little high or their hedgrows to become untidt. Or accept mess on the back seat of their car, or not worry about wearing odd socks or turning up late to do's.
Tolerance is a gentic thing maybe?
Does this make sense?
