The nurse at my GP says that if I take some Vitamin B tablets for about a week before I go on holiday, I should lessen the risk of getting bitten by mosquitos (which normally happens to me; just lucky I guess!). She also said take double the stated dose as it will do me no harm. Has anyone tried this and more to the point, does it work?

I understand that the theory is that the vit B is yeast based and that taking a large dose (Brewer's Yeast used to be the suggested form) will change the way that you smell to mozzies and lessen the attraction. I tried it once but found the tablets sooo disgusting that i gave up. you not only have to start before you go, but keep it up all the time you don't want to be bitten
I travel a lot and it doesn't work for me. If you try it, make sure you use a B complex not just one vit B, because unnecessarily supplementing with one depletes the other Bs. It gets B complicated.
I've tried just about everything & still come back bitten to buggery! (That must be one for the Phrases & sayings)!
Marmite sarnies during the week before.....Same same but different. Pop into Millets and buy some "Deet" to be on the safe side. It's the best repellent you can get. Jungle Formula from boots or Asda i recommend too!
