I really respect and admire Jade Goody for speaking her mind. Do any others share this feeling?

Jade was made famous for her dippy personality, her inability to string a sentence together and the fact that she will speak her mind. The very things that are now becoming her downfall, I firmly believe that Big Brother edited the programme to show the worst of Jade. It was a big publicity thing and I dont think she deserves the bad press she and her family (two young boys might I add) are getting.
Hello Dot,
I read today that Jade should be forgiven (?) by the public but it would be ludicrous for her to try and kick start her career. Why is this, surely everyone has made mistakes before? I believe the full thing was a rating fix and that as whiffey said, Shilpa HAD to win after all the controversy, otherwise you would have had people jumping on the bandwagon calling everyone racist. I think Jade has been made an example of and the British nation as a whole do not want to be seen as racist so have totally cut off Jade, when I know that there are a lot of worse racist comments that people make daily.

As I said i did not watch any of it after the opening night, but i have read the papers, I do get the impresion that alot of it was class related, for one reason or another, in Jade's case, even with a multi-racial background herself, I believe she was an easy tool for BB to manipulate into the situation.
Hang on , surely it goes down like this, I've never watched Big Brother but I think it's fairly obvious the way the whole set up, manipulated thing is going to pan out.
Enter beautiful Asian actress who's looking to her European and US career outside Bollywood, Jade thick as a plank Goody, some half wit ex singer and other people I've never even heard of. There is a personality clash. There is a class clash. There is a culture clash. There is a race clash. In that order, as the arguments escalate.
There is some shameful behaviour and clever editing. Huge viewing figures. Huge sales of gutter press papers and magazines. Inevitably beautiful girl badly wronged wins and gets the publicity she wants and needs. Jade, Jo and whoever else it was are castigated, spat upon and generally got at by all and sundry because we were embarassed as a nation that these girls looked so crass, ignorant and coarse whilst the graceful beautiful Indian girl maintained her dignity. This has led to unpleasant happenings for the bullying perpetrators who at the moment have a hugely saleable story under their belts. Jade will have a near nervous breakdown and sell that story. Then she'll struggle to learn about other cultures and she'll sell that story. Then she'll do the whole prodigal son thing and realise the error of her ways and sell that story. Then she'll visit india, set up some orphanage or other token good work to show how reformed she is and sell that story. Then everyone will love her again, because people love to see you fall, be humiliated, admit your humiliation and rise from the ashes, so they can all go "Ahhhhh", and it gives them hope with their miserable lives too.
No-one's been damaged by this long term. This is a PR coup for everyone. There's no such thing as bad publicity.

I personally dont think she is a good person to admire but I do agree that the racist card was played tfar oo much. I agree with you lifeandsold that in an argument people do say nasty personal comments which maybe dont reflect their real views. If you look at the history of big brother, groups do form and fights do happen - the programe is engineered to do this. We have seen heated arguments before on the programme and things are said between people which are nasty caused by the heat of the argument. But no big deal has been made out of it until now and no mention of bullying has been made before. From the clips of the programe I saw the underlying chemistry for the arguments were caused by personality clashes and difference of opinion not pure race hatred. If these arguments had been between like race people then nothing would have been made of it. We seem to be able to mock peoples accents in this country i.e Sommeret, Liverpool and no one even really notices which is essentially the same as mocking an Indian persons voice. But as soon as it does occur everyone starts getting on their high horse about it. i'm not saying it's right at all, but if we start making it deemed wrong thent it should be so across the board.
We can make a programe such as Jam and Jerusalem which mocks people in the west country but you imagine what would happen if white people made a programme using accents of an Asian background. In all walks of life, e.g work, school etc we have the mike taken out of personal things, i.e accent, looks, height, weight, intellegence. Most people just have to get on with life and make the most of it. at the end of the day it's not going to stop people thinking it even if they arnt allowed to say it. It's part of life and in a way it makes us stronger and able to cope with things. I'm personally happy with myself and really dont give a hoot what anyone says about the way I look, talk etc I'm strong enough not to worry. if we wrap everyone in cotton wool then as soon as the going gets tough well fall apart.
