I have a sore throat - kind of dry and tickly, and is stopping me sleeping at night.

Is there anything (apart from alcohol) that I can take to soothe it at night, anything tried and tested?

Hot drinks before bed? Honey and lemon or something?
I swear by Vicks' ultrachloroseptic spray for a sore throat but sounds as if yours is more annoying than sore (as in makes you wanna cry everytime you swallow sore!).
Failing that follow your own advice and just get so pi55ed you pass out and you wont notice the sore throat!
