Just heard my baby's heart beat!
Just got back to work from hospital where we had a meeting with our midwife. Was delighted when she said she wanted to hear the heart beat!
She stuggled to find it at first but eventually the little ones heart beat was heard loud and clear!!
Was very emotional and pretty amazing!
I'm 20 weeks now, unless i hear any different according to my scan on Thursay!
Got all my results back and they were fine and the midwife was absolutely lovely and made me feel on top of the world!!
(sorry not a question but thought i'd share!)

Its funny but until I had mine people would be excited about these things and I was just sort of oh right. Actually having it happen sort of chances your perspective. How good for you. Keep us informed.
Baby's not kicking too much, although i was lazing on the sofa over the weekend and he/she had a few digs at me and my boyfriend even felt them so that was really special. But luckily not to the extent where i can't get any kip!
Yeah actually having and feeling the physical aspects certainly does change ur perspective!
Although i still dont think it's sunk in properly, but then again i'm not sure that it ever will...!

woohoo nat, thats great. its nice to have that reassurance between scans isnt it.
It never really sank in with me either, even when i would watch my whole belly shift from side to side. One side of my tum would be flat with the perfect outline of a baby on the other side (thats weird)
Glad all well x

I never bought a doppler (heart meter) pruely for that reason. id have crapped myself had i not been able to find the heartbeat myself. A friend of mine has one and is due in Aug. A week before her scan she was checking heartbeat when she lost it, found it a few mins later but it was faster, lost it and it was slower when she found it. She was convinced it was twins and was panicking as she has 3 already lol
Went for her scan and its just the one bubba, it was just moving around, hence heartbeat getting faster.
Oh youll love i when your tummy goes like that, its just the strangest thing and yet i still couldnt believe it was baby and it was inside of me.

Nice one Nat. I've only heard my baby's heartbeat once so far but my wife's heard it on a couple of other appointments that I wasn't at. Quite a beautiful sound.
Wait til you have your second scan and you can see it waving at you on the screen! That's pretty awesome too.
Ours is due any day now so am on red alert!

How great for you Nat_84 it is such a relief isnt it when you hear that wow-wow-wow sound. I have been lucky enough to hear a couple of my grandchildren when they have had a scan. It makes it feel so real. Unlike when I had my two and maybe your mum says the same.they didnts do scans. Just this awful hard steel trumpet thing.! that the midwife used to move around your tummy and press down to hear the heart beat.! So half way there now then. It won't belong now. take care. Brenda x
Thanks girls!
lilacben - love the way u decribe the sound "wow-wow-wow" was spot on!! lol.
kitty1981 - Time will fly and in no time you'll be laying on the bed and looking at your little one on screen! I cant believe i'm half way already! And once you're fella sees/hears or feels the baby i'm sure he'll come around! lol.

Well i have my 20 week scan tomorrow!! Get to see the baby in more detail and make sure everything's alright and also the possibility of finding out the sex!! Very exicting!!
Will let you all know on Friday if they tell us or not, as i've taken the rest of the afternoon off work to go walk around Mothercare going "awwww!" to either all the baby boy or girl stuff!lol

Hi liquidspace! I posted in the Body and Soul forum when i had my 20 week scan!
Found out we're due to have a little girl!!!!!
Both soooo delighted!!
It was the most amazing scan (i know i say this about everything...! lol) But she showed us her little stomach, kidneys, 4 chambers of her heart, her fingers and toes, her spine, her little ribs! Just everything in the most detail.
She was absolutely fine, although slightly smaller than the average baby so we need to go back for a Growth scan on 2nd April - to make sure she's developing well. I'm not too panicked about the Growth Scan, hopefully it's becasue i'm quite small myself (only 5'4 and karls only 5'7). I see it as another opporutnity to see her being naughty and wriggle around constantly!!! and to get more pics! lol.
I could have had the scan done but i chose to wait until i'm about 26 weeks. They said the baby would be very slim and delicate looking and u get a better quality picture at 26 weeks.
They have 4D scan clinics all over the country so you wouldnt have to come into London - where are u based? if u do a simple google search "4D Scan and your area" something should come up.
http://www.babybond.com/ is the one i'll be going to. Just had a look at the website and i think they charge 95 usually.
Hope everything goes well for your daughter.

Ah thanks for that, we are in South East, we are having the 12 week scan on Friday but probably the 20 week scan is the best for seeing things.
I am so happy for you, it is v exciting being able to see all that detail. You will have to post your 4D scan on here when you have it done. I presume you get a little video of the baby, that would be so great.

Every scan is delightful in its own way - is this her first scan?!
I was soooo nervous but excited when i went for my first (which wasnt until 16 weeks!), me and my partner were both overwhelmed by the sight of our baby on screen!
At every scan you learn and experience something new.
I could literally lay there all day and watch my little baby on screen.
The smallest things they do are so funny, especially when the sonographer gives a running commentry lol.
You must be soo excited about seeing your grandchild too!! And yes, most 4D clinics give u a 5 minute or so CD.
