As I have no relative comment to make (as I've little experience of piercings) I wasn't going to give an answer. If you've nothing positive to say, maybe you should have done the same.
Hopefully, someone will be able to advise you sensibly, tamirra. Good luck : )

Take no notice, some people just get their kicks trying to wind people up, god know why.
All I can offer by way of advice is that living in Camden, I see loads of people (young and old, I might add) with piercings everywhere, including lots to lips and just the to side of the mouth. So someone is happy to perform them, and they seem quite healthy (not anaemic or drained of blood!). Maybe try another shop.

Not really, Camden is north-west, whitechapel is east of the Square Mile.
And Camden's great! You should come and have a look round. The markets are great, loads of ethnic and very different stuff (goths, emo's, hippies and everything in between) or just sit yourself down in one of the many cafe's or bars and watch the world go by. There are many strange sites (my fave a 6ft bean-pole lad in thigh-high boots and stockings) but people here are mainly friendly and just here doing their own thing. And many tattoo/piercing businesses. Come and see what you're missing!

This is quite an interesting site, and oddly enough, doesn't show any piercings thru the top lip, but they do pierce above the lip (like a beauty spot) called a madonna.
Do you actually want it thru your top lip?

I once spoke to a girl who had piercings everywhere. She could only have been around 17 or 18. Nothing wrong there. I asked if her parents had had an any objections and she said no, they were both very relaxed about the whole thing - her decision and all that.
But the only time she said her father absolutely put his foot down was when she wanted her tongue and lip done. He was a dentist, she said, and had seen far too many dental disasters caused by lip and tongue piercings to allow her to do it. Because he'd been so cool about everything else, she went along with his wishes and said that in hindsight he was probably right.

Hi tamirra,
Sorry if I was harsh and upset you.
I saw two consequetive posts from you, one saying you were on medication for being down and this one saying you wanted to get your lip pierced. And yes, I did assume you were young and not sure where you were coming from.
I have pierced ears, so I am also a hypocrite.
My brother is tattooed from his neck down to his feet, including a vulgar one inside his lower lip.
He got his first tattooes when he was at boarding school, claiming the money off expenses (my mum's pocket). We were really very poor, his fees were paid by a 'friend' of my mums as he was a bit of a nightmare as a kid and we grew up on a rough estate where he was always getting into trouble.
His school was in Portsmouth, so it was easy to get tattooes with it being a naval port. But, this was nearly 30years ago - way before they were fashionable.
By the time he left school, at 16 with no qualifications despite the sacrifices my mum made, he had about 15 tattooes. A very expensive education.
He drifted between jobs and begging on the streets (we both got him jobs but he always messed up) and by the time he was in his 20's he was referred to as the 'blue man'. Because his whole body was covered. By then he had become a tattoo artist, so was totally obsessed with them. He has great talent and artistic ability, but as his older sister I would really love him to draw or paint me a picture, not keep drawing on people.
We always worried, and still do, that one day he might regret them - and he really is beyond repair for surgery.
