My 3 year old boy has hurt his winkle today. :-( He fell off the loo whilst reaching for something and must have trapped it inbetween the loo seat as he went forwards. He has ripped it around the base at the top and i dont know what the best course of action is for it. I dont think it needs a visit to the docs but what can i do with it? Shall i just leave it or put cream on it? If so, what sort of cream? Normally i would just put a plaster on it but in this case, its a bit awkward. I dont want him to get an infection just there!!!!!!He's not helping cause he wont let me look at it either. I got a quick peek whilst he was asleep and as you can imagine, it looks pretty sore.

surely a question for a professional person ,im amazed that anyone would ask an internet site about an issue re a childs health, sorry unrulie.
Just give NHS direct a call Julie, a try and keep it as clean as you can for now and let the air get to it

oh dont be so dramatic crete, its not that serious. His health is not in any danger, hes just got a cut on his willy!!!!I just wondered whether to leave it uncovered or put cream on it, maybe a similar thing has happened to another Mums son on here and for your information, i will take him to the doctors tomorrow if it is still sore!
Question Author
Thanks red, thats what i was wondering.
Aw, the poor wee soul!
Best go to the GP I reckon.
good decision unrulie.
oh and try to stop him playing with it, i know what little boys are like :)
Question Author
crete, im a fairly good mum, i think,im not about to sit here waiting for answers instead of seeing a GP, if i felt i really needed to. If i had posted this for a bit or extra advice or not, i would NOT have rushed him up to the doctors for this, its really not that serious.
some cream like savalon. Take him to doc today if it swells or he has trouble doing a wee.
Question Author
yes red, he's not too bad for that these days, but another bit of advice if you've got it, how do you stop the grown up boys doing that???? :-)
im glad its not that serious and hope hes o k
Don't start again, crete. I don't know why you bother to answer most body-related Q's in B&S, when most of them don't meet your approval.

Aww, poor little thing, Jules! My little brother had a similar accident when he was younger and my mum was just told to keep it dry and maybe use a touch of Savlon or Sudocrem on it. Give him a cuddle from me. x x x x x
I dont think crete meant you were a bad parent, when I first read 'ripped' I thought it was quite serious too, made me wince and I'm a girl :-)
cut their hands off Julie :)
Question Author
Thanks cocopops, i would but at the moment though, it is just a cut, nothing more, nothing less. I dont think the doc would do anything at this stage anyway which is why i havent taken him yet. First signs of any problems and i will, thanks for your advice.

thank you crete
Why is everyone on Crete's case? It was a perfectly reasonable answer that he gave and his opinion, which is allowed i think in 2007

im not on here to make comments re anyones parenting skills ripped at the base at the top sounded quite serious, and saying it looks pretty sore, only went on the info provided, and whisky im not here to approve or not just to answer question as the site is designed for.
i think unrulie had a right to answer Crete, dont you badger?
Yrs but she try to answer in the same vain in 2008, gawd help her!

Maybe a nice warm bath later might sooth it Julie? lus it'll help clean it clean.

Hope it heals soon for him, bless him xxx
yer if it was serious as crete thought then thats a blo0dy good answer (for crete :-) )) lol
