Keyhole Hysterectomy
1 Answers
I am due to have keyhole hysterectomy soon where my cervix and ovaries will be left intact. What does this involve. I have read load of bits on the Web, but need to hear from people who have had the same op. What most worries me is the anesthetic as it makes me so sick. This treatment is the end of the road for me as I have tried every other treatment for heavy periods.

It was a last resort for me too but the recovery time is shorter and you should be a lot more mobile than if you had the traditional surgery. What you have to remember though is that although you might feel okay (You will only have 3 or 4 small "puncture" wounds as opposed to a large scar) it is still a major op. and your insides will need time to recover. As for the anaesthetic I have much the same problem - I had a minor op before the hysterectomy which made me really ill but I told the anaesthetist and they can give you something to counteract the nausea. I was okay after the hysterectomy and have had an op. since and was sick despite the medication but it was not nearly so bad.
