I have just be advised by a Doc to cut out all wheat from my diet and to eat a high protein breakfast...which is great BUT what do I eat?! I
know you can get gluten free food but apparently this is diferent from wheat free. I'm not to eat bread of any description, I've only been doing it for 2 days and I'm struggling already.
For breakfast I have had scrambled egg and ham or turkey slices with a babybel...any suggestions please help? Thanks
I think that the Carol Vorderman detox diet was wheat free. Mr Spudqueen followed it for about a week! He had rye bread (not ordinary bread with rye in, but the black stuff) and wheat free pasta (you can get it - if not in a supermarket then in health food shops). Maybe you could get hold of a copy for some recipe ideas.
Soya is high protein, as are pulses, nuts, milk, eggs, cheese, steak, yoghurt. Did your doc not refer you to a nutritionist if he/she wants you to cut out all wheat? Seems a bit mean of them to just tell you to cut out wheat, eat high protein and then not give you proper advice about what constitutes a high protein breakfast. I'd go back if I were you and get a bit more information.
I have been wheat free for 6 years now, it isn't easy but you wont be too bothered soon ( apart from dreaming of hot buttered toast!). I have rice crackers with ham or fruit followed by a dairy free type yoghurt. When you realise how much better you feel ideas will come flying. You can have porridge too but I wouldn't bother with gluten free bread etc, it's a great disappointment.
Good luck
Not sausages Miss-taken. Unless they are gluten-free.
'Normal' sausages are nowhere near 100% meat. They contain rusk which is mainly wheat. The Germans laugh at our sausages because they do not contain rusk.
Gluten-free sausages are available but not always easy to find. Tesco have them but difficult to find amongst the other sausages.
I am wheat intollerance and after a year of being wheat free & feeling fine, i made the mistake to go of the rails, i am now ill everyday & struggling to get back on track!
You can get alot of stuff in Sainsburys, even frozen lasagne & pizza.
My fave that is a normal meal is sweet & sour chicken stir fry, that is wheat free!
Once you start feeling better, please, do not go back to it & do what i did :(
