Hi
My partner and I got engaged a couple of weeks ago and I'm already starting to panic about wedding preparations. Issues include: money (lack of), venues etc, etiquette etc.
Any tips? Thanks so much.

My friend made hers and instead of having almonds in she put miniature whiskeys in the mens and lush bath bombs in the ladies. the childrens had sweets in.
She also made her thank you cards herself and had bought all the bits and pieces online and they looked great.

melons, I think we should start writing this down and then start selling our advice to those in need. :)
i also heard of a couple who, instead of wedding favours, set each place with a charity pin for testicular cancer (men) and breast cancer (women) as each family had been affected by cancer. the little pin brooches are pretty little things and a nice keepsake as well as doing their bit for charity.
Another friend who came back from australia to take wedding vows here gave every guest a little wooden boomerang with the wedding details on, that may be taking things a bit far though lol

Hi! helster. My daughter is getting married shortly and it is costing quite a lot of money. Luckily they are footing most of the bill. It doesn't have to be that way. A friend of hers had six weeks to plan her wedding as her partner was being posted abroad. It was nowhere near a lavish affair but they were still married, everyone had a brilliant time and she looked every much the blushing bride. Go with what you can afford and enjoy the day. Get family and friends to help out with anything they can. They will love to be involved. Good Luck!
Everybody's given such good advice but best of all is to set a budget then cut your coat according to that. Don't start married life with too much debt hanging round your neck.
- you don't have to cut too many corners .
And I know you're thinking about a church wedding but can reassure you that if you decide to cut costs a bit Register Offices are much more welcoming than they used to be and you can really tailor your ceremony to your needs.
Having been to the one in Sunny Scunny near you, they were lovely!
And don't worry too much - enjoy the process!
