*** please dont patronise me with your answer this is just getting something off my chest****
I have a small business and recently i gave a person credit, he has been dealing with me for the past 4 years and on this basis i agreed to raise his credit limit!!
he came in a few weeks ago and took his biggest load yet, but has since vanished off the face of the earth. the address i have always had turns out to be his old address and he wont answer his phone!!
any way i have since found out where he lives and have sent the debt collectors in to get my money.
but heres the problem!!!......... after doing some snooping work to found out about him and his mindset i have only found out he is a convicted peado!!!!!
this has made me more angry that i gave a dirty b*stard credit and let him gain my trust!!!!!
if this was your problem how would you deal with it?????
truthfully...... not PC!!!

His paedo past is not actually anything to do with this- I'm not being PC- I am a teacher and I would turn up to stone him too!! But you can't let that prejudice this instance. He owes you money, he is a sh*t, and you now need to take him to the cleaners to get it back.
i would get my money back and then leave it.
Do you know what he was convicted for?
how long ago?
pled guilty?
if you don't know the details then i would ignore that side of things, cause it might be something like having sex with a 15 year old. Plus, if people were allowed to just come and beat us up for our past sins, many many people would be in trouble!

by debt collectors do you mean a registered debt collection agency or 'independant debt collectors?' If it is a proper debt collection agency I believe that once it is in their hands it cant be passed back to you. So I would just let them sort it out.
I used to work in a finance company and one of the rules (think it was from the justice act 1974) meant we couldnt harass customers for any monies owed. harrassment could infact wipe off the debt owed.
The mans past (vile as it sounds) as nothing to do with the debt owed.

Well, the first priority for you is to try and get your money back, and possibly he has done a runner because hitherto his address was secret and now he has been exposed and has had to move on. You cannot blame yourself for not knowing about his previous record although I can understand your anger. Hold your fire until you get your money and then walk away and do no more business with him. If you don't know the history of his conviction it's difficult to judge. He may well be trying to lead a new life and put his problems behind him. In any case, if somebody owed me money and defaulted, I wouldn't do business with them again for that reason alone.
as bednobs says, 'paedophile' means a huge range of things - technically a 16-year-old who has sex with a 15-year-old is one, though I doubt any of those are ever prosecuted. It may be that you could find out the details of the offence, but why bother. You had a normal commercial relationship with him, he cheated you, there are remedies, you have instigated one. It never pays to get too het up about other people's wickedness, it starts to eat into your own life, and what have you done to deserve that? Treat him like any other thief.
If you saw him again, you could tell him you know about his past, which would put the fear of god into him. But don't start kicking him for crimes he's committed against other people; the state has already dealt with that on your behalf.

lol don't get your knickers in a twist there john lambert, i didn't say it wasn't illegal. Surely you must agree with me that having sex with a 15 year old is at completely at the other end of the spectrum that other things that can get you on the sex offenders register though?
if you can't believe that some people think that having sex at 15 is ok you must be very very very naive!
and if you "can't believe i just said thatt" then look at the words i ttyped down ... i did say it! and meant it. I think it's easy as you get older to forget the thoughts and feelings you may have had as a younger person. I would like to bet that whilst most 15 year olds know it's illegal to have sex, they think its morally ok to, and its just as people get older they forget what it's like to be 15. I also bet a lot of people know its illegal to speeed, but do it anyway!
