I got a rotary type electric shaver for Christmas but my barber says that it is what is causing my shaving bumps - I'd be interested in any opinions that support or disagree with him plus any suggestions for clearing up shave bumps without getting rid of my new present. Thanks in advance.

A rotary shaver works on the principal of having (at least) two blades the first not cutting the hair but grabbing it and pulling it, thereby lifting it slightly so that when the second blade cuts it and the hair drops back down it gives it a closer shave......no matter how good the shaver if your skin type isn't suited to this form of shaving you will suffer from some form of discomfort........You could give the pre shave lotions available from most chemists a go and see if they help though.

I would venture the opinion that you won't find a better, closer shave than the newest generation of 3 and 4 blade wet shaves though.

Yep, I'm with ma colleague on this one. I have tried a vartiety of electric razors over the years, and they tear my skin to pieces. If you haven't got a chin like Desparate Dan, use a three / four bladed razor, some aloe shaving foam, watm water, and take your time.
I had the same problem. I changed from shaving foam and started using Mac 3 blades and I have never looked back. I know they are expensive but I noramally get a month out of a pack of 4. I normally shave once every 2-3 days. In my opinion throw that razor blade in the bin. good luck
oopps sorry I should have said I changed to shaving cream from shaving foam.
I strongly dissagree
