Can someone be too nice?
33 Answers
Do you think it is possible for a person to be too nice? I go out of my way to help and do things for people and I just wonder if I come across as a 'wimp' because of this?
For example, my dad has a very elderly neighbour, who was complaining about the cold a few months back, so I managed to get him some extra blankets for nothing, which I dropped to him. I said I'd put them on his bed for him and I was appalled by the state of his bed linen, he doesn't own a machine and doesn't have a carer. So I took the linen and washed it myself. Is that taking being kind too far?
If it isn't, I'd love some ideas of silly kind things to do. Nothing expensive as I have been off sick for 2 years and the sickness benefit is rubbish! I just love to see someone smile!
OK you can get your sick bags out now!

I often find myself helping others without giving a second thought as to what I might get myself into. I especially help the elderly. Last week my very old neighbour asked for my help to lift some boxes to the rubbish, but then the weather turned very nasty and I couldn't do the work. That bothered my conscience so much, I took yesterday off from work and helped the old lady cleaned her home and took care of the rubbish.
pitstopbunny and mrknowall I do understand and like you pitstopbunny, I always think if I might appear creepy to them too.

pitstopbunny, I work as a carer for the elderly and I see myself being very fortunate to be able to help these kindly people on a daily basis, we laugh with them daily, see them through the torments of alzheimer's and dementia and help them through many physical and mental problems. Being a carer is probably the most rewarding job I have ever had (the worst paid though) and would happily do the same work voluntarily!!
I am 49 by the way!!
No such thing as too nice, I promise!! you will be rewarded a thousand fold just by helping that elderly gentleman.
Most of these elderly folk would just appreciate a good natter, find out what he done during the war, where he lived as a youngster, what job he and his father done, you will learn so much and he will enjoy your company.
Good luck!!!!!

Its soo good to see this thread on here :-)..We all feel good to do a nice thing for someone else,no matter how small!..Many years ago,I was in M&S and a wee girl had tripped and fallen coming off the escalator. She was all frightened and crying, and luckily I had some candy lollipops from Thorntons in my bags.I asked her mother could I give her one,and when I handed it over, the tears stopped!..Made me feel great!!...You do a magnificent job Ratter btw,I admire you :-)
