did you only give him a lift because you thought, ''ahh he's rich, i'll get a huge tip for this''?
i rarely tip anyone. i will round up 2.80 to 3 or something but rarely give any sort of tip - unless of course the person has actually done something extra for me, such as helped with my bags, or adjusted the food specially or something.
i don't see why i should pay extra to someone who has merely done the job they are paid to do??
it is not my responsibilty to boost peoples wages, just because the boss pays them badly.
it is actually the tip culture that allows unscrupulous bosses to get away with paying crap wages, because they know the customers will take up their slack.
if i was loaded, i may tip but while i am on average income, i won't.
i once started a temporary job and the boss noted that one of the guys drove past my digs every morning, so the guy then offered to stop and pick me up - i was grateful, and when i was leaving i gave him a bottle of wine - not expensive but not the cheapest - about 5.
i didn't have to give him anything, and he wasn't expecting it, i just thought it a gesture to say thanks - as he walked away i heard him say ''tight get''....
unbelievable!!
had i not given him anything, he would not have thought anything at all, but i make an effort and thats the response!
seems whatever you give, unless its well over the odds, is not enough!
i think this sort of attitude stinks - you, and he, should have been grateful to get anything at all!!
he does not owe you a tip, tips are given by choice.
i agree it would have been nice of him to give you more, but then he didn't have to give you anything, so it should be seen as a bonus.
its also a bit cheeky of him to expect a lift from you (the rest of your list are things that are part of your job, so you deserve no
