Not entirely sure if they are due to stress though, I do suffer from sleep paralysis though and I understand that stress can induce this:-o(
Two nights ago I dreamt that an old school friend had won a local election and had turned our area into a dictatorship. Myself and a couple of other people were trying to talk her out of executing two of our friends and she was ignoring us as she was tring to book a nice place for lunch. In the bachgound I could hear the crowds shouting as thay gathered for the public beheading.
Last night I dreamt that a man with no face was trying to peel my skin off. He'd found a blister on my stomach and was using that as the starting point to slide in a very sharp knife. I was fully conscious (in the dream) and was begging him to stop.
I always have horrid, vivid dreams when I'm stressed. I can remember dreams from years ago that still make me shiver to think about.

Hi bigmamma - hope you're well!
I do think nightmares can reflect stress and worry.
I had a crap sleep last night, think i turned from side-to-side about 100 times.. very annoying - didnt have time to dream!
But a couple of nights ago i dreamt i was being chased by a murderer who wanted to kill me... me and my friends were running around a theme park trying to escape - not very nice! Although very rarely do i remember my dreams.
You going to share your dream with us? x

gosh yingyang those dreams are disturbing! U should check yourself into Pepworth Sleep Clinic - (used to be shown on BBC 1).
If i watch the news or read too much into a particular story i can suffer nightmares.
e.g when all this knife/gang/gun crime was in the news (the month about 6/7 kids got murdered in London) i had a horribly realistic dream that my neighbour (14 yr old black girl) was outside my flats with her friends stabbing and violentenly beating/mugging a passer-by. Was horrific and played on my mind for a good few days!

Oh , my one last night was , again , about my deceased relatives .........shiver.........I was looking at them on these cold slab trollies and insisting they were still alive when then they started gurgling and struggling to get up !!!!! My mother was calling my name , my sister dropped at my feet, and my brother was rising up and turning round with his eyes open !!!! Now you know why I was glad to wake up .

Oh that is rather scary bigmamma and I can understand your relief!
Just had a thought (first one of the day!), when I have had scary dreams and woken up then gone back to sleep sometimes the nightmare continues but when I am having a fantastic, wonderful dream then wake up and am desparate to get back to sleep for the dream to continue I never rejoin the dream again, its just not fair, sods law or what!

Poor you, bigmamma. that sounds very upsetting to say the least. Do you think it was answering the question about family on here last night that brought it on? Even if you weren't consciously thinking of your loved ones afterwards it might have stirred things up.
I always read before falling asleep and sometimes bits of what I'm reading get tangled up in my dream.
