Mine is when I was 6, whilst at the seaside, I posed with my brother and sister for a photo with a small monkey dressed in a knitted suit. When I saw my Mum handing money over to the bloke and heard the words " about 2 weeks " spoken, I was CONVINCED she had bought me the monkey.
I was so excited, every day I watched and waited for my monkey to come.

Then just the photo came and I realised the truth : - ((

AB being brought back to life (only kidding)
I like that, peppy. Childhood memories are a gem aren't they? I remember walking down country lanes and stuffing myself with blackberries growing in the hedgerows .

Being excited one summer bank holiday weekend when I was about 11 that we were going to Chessington WOrld of Adventures as a reward for being so good all day at the Ideal Home Exhibition (which I now love) and getting up that day to find we couldt go cause my dad and his best mate were too hungover.

That's really sad legend, I can only imagine that pain.
Stewey, what is it about blackberries that brings out the child in us ? I am already excited about the prospect of gathering them, I used to take bags and bags of them home to my Mum, who just used to sigh, roll her sleeves up and get cracking with the pastry.

Mr.P, on the other hand, dreads the season as he has to clean the purple poo off the car !! Small price I say x x

Peppy, when I mentioned blackberries I was remembering many years ago, I won't tell you how many. walking along country lanes in Clayton, Newcastle Under Lyme. Also we used to collect bluebells and take them home and proudly present them to our mums!. These idyllic country lanes are probably a motorway at the present. We moved to Canada when I was ten years old so I have no idea what happened to the blackberries:)
I have a couple of big disappointments, bit serious but nevertheless, they are what came to mind. Firstly, my Dad not being able to walk me down the aisle at my wedding and secondly the fact that he never knew any of his Grandchildren and vice versa, that they never got to know him! :-( !
Every xmas father christmas use to come and visit our family, at my nan and grandads house.

When I was about 5 (?) my older cousin (7?) took me into the kitchen and opened the cupboard door to reveal a father christmas outfit and told me it wasnt really father christmas it was grandad dressed up.

I was gutted!

My biggest disappointment Jim not fixing it for me to go to the moon. The swine.
tell me about it Oct, he never let me have a jelly fight with my brother and sisters :-(
Am there with you unruliejulie.

I remarried last year without my wonderful dad and was so sad without him. We actually 'ran off' with our 4 children to get married cos I couldnt bear the thought of marrying without him with me. x
mine was when i was about 7 yrs old moving into a new house and helping my mum put things away she said " put those under the stairs" i couldn't believe the stairs actually lifted up reveling a magical place, i was upset to learn she meant the cupboard under the stairs, most disappointing!!!
Hmmm, my biggest disapointment was going to the shop for some prawn cocktail crisps, and when i got there they had none left. I was gutted, i was so looking forward to some seabrook...
I dont get disapointed much as i have low expectations...
