Nothing good comes out a ban on anything. Take the hand gun fiasco following the thomas hamiliton incident in Dunblane.
All thats happens is that local shooting clubs close down but you can still buy a gun in moss side manchester for 30.
Same goes for booze, ban it and people will still drink it, problem is that villains rake in the cash and the goverment get nothing.

Thank you funkymoped :o)
My dads view is of course very personal. In the past 35 years he has tried alcohol, heroin, cocaine & cannabis. He only dabbled in 2 of these substances..alcohol was the only one he became addicted to and it almost killed him.
He has been 'dry' for 3 and a half years and for that I am very proud of him!

Funky, alcohol contributed the the early death of my Dad but i choose to drink sensibly after seeing what it did to him. Just because something can be abused, it doesnt mean it will be by everyone, otherwise we're heading for a total ban on lots of things! Life would be dull if that happened wouldnt it? :-)
say pippa68, a very well done to dad,
I know from past experience with drugs and alcohol how dangerous they can all be.But i have found that just because i f++++ed up does nt mean every one else will, so to take away a simple pleasure for the majority is a crime in it self we are after all a free country.
I understand the pain it can cause when people become addicted but to ban alcohol i think is a bit unrealistic funkymoped.
I think putting the age limit up would be a start may be to 21 but then we need to make sure the under 21 s have lots to do
