Freedom of choice ?

As we hurtle along with breathtaking speed towards a nanny state, why should I be forced to wear a seat belt in my car.
I would insist my passengers wore them as I am responsible for their safety. I am also responsible for my own safety so why has the government taken this responsibility over.

It's the resources that have to be used when you smash through the windscreen and land in the middle of the road on your head.
It also doesn't make nice viewing for your kids when they have to go and visit you in hospital....it also doesn't make nice viewing when 25 years later you still bare the scars.
Oh...and he still doesn't wear his bloody seat belt !!!!!!!!!!

Why should ''you'' be forced to wear a seat belt in your car.
Give me a good reason why you should'nt wear a seat belt then, and how can you ''insist'' that your passengers wear a seat belt ?
What if they refuse then, will you still give them a lift, i suspect not as you rightly pointed out, its your responsibility
to make sure they are wearing seat belts.
Ps, what type of insurance would you think you would pay if you told your insurance company that you were refusing to wear your seatbelt, you would pay nothing because no insurance company would agree to this, therefore that would make you a driver with no insurance which in turn means no car tax, now whos at risk?????

laurence, i dont know about aisans as there arent many in my neck of woods but ive seen parents in front passenger seats with toddlers waving out of windows whilst climbing on their lap. Sadly the car flew past me at over 40mph (in a 30mph) as i was sat at a junction so i had no chance to take their number or id have reported it immediately.
the government dont just tell you, they tell the whole country. The reason being that there are a lot of idiots out there who think no harm will come to them if they dont wear belts and as such we all have to be treated as simpletons and told what to do.
It doesnt bother me at all, i wear it so why do you get annoyed? What if your children decide not to wear a belt when they are older and driving? will you support them as its their freedom of choice?
