Hi admarlow , hope you are ok and not too worried .
Any periods of sudden change in heart rhythm with symptoms can be discussed with your GP if you wish . He / she will put your mind at ease . Tachycardia and / or palpitations are possibly what you experienced . :-) x

cheers bigmamma
Morning admarlow, it may have been just palpatitations but if there is associated pain it is perhaps better to speak to a doctor for some peace of mind. Perhaps its your bodies way of telling you that you are having too much fun swanning around the world and enjoying yourself, time to come back to Blighty and do some work!

Seriously, I am sure it is nothing to worry about but see a doctor just in case. Hope you are having a fab time, where are you now?

warpig
xx
LOL - palpatitations is a new heart irregularity that I, Dr warpig, have just discovered:-o)

warpig you are right on all fronts....
much better this morning warpig thanks and hope everything is well with you and mrwarpig :-) xx
maybe you spilt curry down your t shirt?
It sounds like a panic attack
Are you unusually stressed, consuming large quantities of alcohol or other drugs. These are all factors that can trigger panic attacks. Like the other posters have suggested proper medical advice would the best
Caffeine can be a factor in panic or anxiety attacks. Have you been drinking more coffee, cola, red bull etc?
Go see a Doctor just to be on the safe side and try cutting out caffeine, see if that helps.

Sydney eh? You lucky thing!

Caffeen, alcohol and drugs, guilty, guilty , guilty, ......
Go and stand in the corner admarlow and think about what you have done, naughty boy.
A few years ago I had similar, very very serious pains in my chest, so bad I was panicking like mad and thought I was going to snuff it. I phoned a very close doctor friend who came over to see me, and assured me it was not cardiac. He said there are a couple of key features missing, and no I'm not going to tell you what they are otherwise you'll get them ! I went to the library and borrowed a book on coping with pain, and learned a lot.

I was under *severe* stress at the time at work, a whole critical project depended on me, and in retrospect it seems so clear, but it didn't while it was happening.

Good luck, get checked out. The mind can do amazingly bad as well as good things to the body.

Cheers whiffey, I recon it is all mental, (as in under 0 stress!!!!) but as soon as im home i will see the doc XXXX
Here's another one from the Croydon headquarters of chest pain. Another time I had really severe chest pains, nearly dying as per usual, panicking as usual, so frightened I rushed out and ran 6 miles over the downs. When I got back I was knackered, but reasoned that if you are dying you are unlikely to be able to run 6 miles. I felt a lot better for it as well !

(This one turned out to be a virus)
