single parenting

A good friend of mine is in a very unfortuate situation. Her fiance left her whilst she was pregnant, and she now lives alone in Watford with her new baby. She has very little family around, and not many friends as she has not lived there long. I have looked on the internet for support but found very little. I am going to visit her soon, and I would like to arrive armed with help and advice to help her get her life on track. If anyone can let me know ideas of how to cheer her up, and also about any parenting groups or fun stuff for single mums in the Watford area I would be most grateful.

i often recommend the ivillage messageboards and there is a meet a mum board there to help mums find friends in their area http://messageboards.ivillage.co.uk/iv-ukprmee tmum
if she hasnt got the net then maybe a call to her health visitor to see if there are any groups or a surestart group in the area

Hi Hannah, here is a link to The Gingerbread Organisation, they have been around for years so hopefully they will be able to offer some sound advice to your friend!
