The person below has said that she feels her child has Tourettes. Many people self diagnose themselves thesedays and I feel it is an excuse or coverup for inexcusable behavior. If a child is misbehaving then that child must have ADHD, if a child is swearing then that child must have tourettes. Why can't parents take responsibility for their children, take them in hand and sort them out. Tourettes indeed!

That's a troll. In my opinion.

Self portrait?
All I was doing was expressing an opinion - I didn't even call you a troll!

Seems we've descended to the level of 5 year olds who want to show off because they know bigs words. Sad.
4get - I prefer my link - more accurate I think!

Wow! You are gorgeous.
I've only skimmed through the posts, but is that right? You think mental illness is made up?!
Question Author
Yes I do.
I think, ironically, if anyone were in need of treatment for the disease that is mental illness, it would be alfayeds-spy.
Question Author
Not at all. I am stable and perfectly happy. I feel no need to invent a reason to be unhappy.
I'm astounded! Really?!

My boyfriend's aunt was hit by a car when she was four. She was severely brain damaged, but survived. She's now in her 50's and cared for full time by her mum. Is she just doing it for attention, then?
Neither did my relative. They ended up in hospital for 3 months at a time though; repeatedly for 12 years. Then 'magically' stopped. When they started taking a new type of drug. Hmm...
Question Author
Brain damage and mental illness two different things. I think you are getting confused dear.
So, it is only possible to have a problem mentally when it's been caused by something physical?
let him think it. Maybe he is and that why he doesnt believe it, he's in denial. :) or she/he/troll
Question Author
In a word, yes. For someone to go from a perfectly normal thinking adult - to having a mental "illness" is not plausable. It CAN be helped. There are ways out of these things. Mind over matter. Someone who has had an accident and has had actual damage to the brain is a different story.
Mind over matter? That's a great basis for an argument. So, what about scientific fact?
and i think you are being absolutley ridicilous dear! There is enough medical evidence and facts about mental illness to last you a life time of reading! read up and come back slightly more educated than you are now!
My own Mother spent years studying the mind and mental illness to become a nurse in this field and i can asure you that there is no make believe about this illness. Oh how i'd love you to spend a day in a mental illness unit, might make you realise!
Question Author
I don't care about scientific facts. I know the scientific facts. I am only voicing my opinion.
