Strangest thing that has happened to you today?
25 Answers
I had a snooze at about 5 this afternoon woke up feeling pinned down with what I thought was someone whispering stuff into my ear. Of course when I came to properly there was no one pinning me down. Anyone else have this? i think I have real sleep problems because I talk alot in my sleep and act out dreams, often on waking or just falling asleep, I wake myself up feeling like I am falling or catching imaginary objects.
As strange as this, its not the first time, unlike agreeing with Legend on another thread and him making me laugh on another.

As well as feeling pinned down, unable to move, you can also get hallucinations. You are dreaming you are awake, and experiencing strange things.
It is scary, but quite normal.
The falling sensation is very common - most people experience it during their lifetime. It is called hypnagogic myoclonic twitch, and nobody is really sure why it happens. One theory is that your muscles relax into sleep and your brain interprets it as falling over.
Talking and acting out dreams is also normal behaviour. Provided you are not feeling tired and sleepy during the day and functioning normally, then you have nothing to worry about.

the shouting, crying telling people off in my sleep has happened since my teens, Im 28 now. I used to get the pinning down thing late teens, and had a few episodes in my early 20s but this has been happening again, probably 5 or 6 times in the last 2 months, normally in the middle of the night not in an afternoon zzzzzzzzzzz!
