glucose test

i have got to have the glucose test in a wk n abit and im jus wondering the hospital gave me it to take before i go to see my midwife and ive heard it degusting would they notice if i didnt drink it all as ive got to drink 150g of it ? urrrggghhhhh

its a glucose solution similar to lucozade, thats nothing too horrible.

if you dont do the test and you have pregnancy related diabetes you will not be doing youself or your baby much good.

I agree with redcrx you are only cheating yourself and your baby if you do not take the test and turn out to have gestational diabetes and require treatment. I did this test twice it's not a big deal.

On the otherhand I would advise you speak to your midwife about the pros and cons of the test, you are not legally obliged to have the test done. It is only offered to you as for whatever reason, they consider you to be at risk of possibly developing gestational diabetes.

Sorry but if you dont do it, you can be endagering your babies life, its not that gross, and 15oml isn't much. You can cause your baby kidney problems if you dont do it!

i had this test done with my last one and it made me sick as a dog however its for good reason so please dont put it off

in our hospital it is lucozade they use and you are given it in the clinic, usually a few women all at the same time.
they dont stand over you to watch you drink it, but as others have said its not worth going if you aren't going to do the test properly and you and your baby's health could be at risk.

well thanks for your answers just didnt no if it would make a diffrence if i didnt drink every drop

Best thing to do is to drink it quickly! There was a woman who did it with me and she sipped it and was promptly sick on the floor and had to come back the next week!
To be honest it wasn't that bad, the not being able to eat was far worse for a pregnant woman!

i was given 5 minutes to drink my lucozade in. Then i had to have the tests exactly an hour later.
