THIS QUESTION WILL REMAIN AT THE TOP FOR 1 DAY - Do you think Britain is a safe place?
58 Answers
It's good to see that the police have detained people in the wake of the terrorist incidents in London and Glasgow. Naturally the papers have been full of reports about people's safety in Britain. Do you feel less safe today, in particular since the start of the 'war on terror'? Is terrorism really a big threat, or should the government be focussing on knife crime, drugs etc instead? Do any of you people outside of Britain see it as an unsafe place?

i agree with the majority. Britain is a safe place.
You cannot go around worrying about what might happen, i drive trains {overground}, of course its been disgussed by fellow workmates about the railways becoming a target {an easy target at that}, but life goes on, you cannot be seen to give in to terroist.
We are living in an ever increasing violent world now tho, if the goverment want to back the ''get tough on crime'' slogan they are using, then build more prisons, hand out heavier sentences on violent crimes.

I really don't think qyestions like this help, Britain is as safe as anywhere in the world for christs sake, get the whole thing in perspective, more chance of being hit by a bus than blown up, and if you are gonna get blown up nothing you can do about it, when your time is up it's up, and if it is gonna be by being blown up and you never go out it will be the gas main beneath your house, so carry on living, go to work, go to the cinema etc,if you stay indoors they have won, don't let them win.

i definately prefer to not get myself in any situation where another human being can cause me harm or upset, if that is walking to the co-op or travelling on a plane, but I know in this village what the risks are and i have knowledge of the people and the area. Anywhere else and it changes that understanding, and rather than be within distance of home and family, i would be one of thousands all in a similar situation, it is that aspect that worries me as much as a major incident kicking off, I was evacuated from the tube at covent garden in 1995 and i was very very scared.
