THIS QUESTION WILL REMAIN AT THE TOP FOR 1 DAY - Do you think Britain is a safe place?
58 Answers
It's good to see that the police have detained people in the wake of the terrorist incidents in London and Glasgow. Naturally the papers have been full of reports about people's safety in Britain. Do you feel less safe today, in particular since the start of the 'war on terror'? Is terrorism really a big threat, or should the government be focussing on knife crime, drugs etc instead? Do any of you people outside of Britain see it as an unsafe place?

By that I mean the way Labour's turned our country into a joke by letting all and sundry in,the way the nhs is handled is ludricrous and we're now in fact a laughing stock. Dangerous criminals get put into "Open prisons" ( What the heck's an open prison?) Does'nt make sense like a "Free Gift"! only to escape over and over. There's no justice for the victims either. All over the Uk there's violence,old and young being attacked,raped and murdered and thats by UK yobs! One of my sisters lives in Australia,they dont have any messing out there plus they wont allow asylum seekers in. We're seriously thinking about upping sticks away from whats now a settling place for anyone.
No Britain is not a safe place. Especially when you can't even speak freely on an open Q&A forum without some over-zealous editor who bans an entire user name all because s/he disagrees with him.
So much for freedom of expression and thought eh?
When let me tell you something little eddy. If it wasn't for my great Grandfather you will be speaking German by now. If it wasn't for my Grandfather you will be speaking double German by now. If it wasn't for my father you'll be speaking Lord knows what, and if it wasn't for the likes of me you'll be speaking Arabic or chav.
What thanks do I get from the likes of you? No bloody thanks, that what I get.
I was bored of Joe_the_Lion anyway, but after only 20 or so posts became quite accustomed to Arnold_Corns. I am not sure about Jack_Sikora.
So I ask you respectively to reinstate Arnold_Corns with immediate effect. If not for your own conscience but for the memory of your heritage.
Alternatively, just ban this answer and continue playing little Hitler with your well worn erase button!!!!

There's no way anyone will stop us from going about our daily lives!
If our parents & grandparents, etc., managed to live through two world wars whilst living in London, then so can we. Except we now live in South Beds! ;o}
Neti - hope you have an enjoyable journey over to blighty & a wonderful shopping holiday! Enjoy M&S & Primark!!!! ^8^

Like Wardy (coo! you've had more re-incarnations than Dr. Who!) my grandfather and father were in WW1 and I would not like to think that they went through all that for nothing.
They didn't.
The United Kingdom is still a free nation thanks to them and although not perfect is still a lot better to live in than many places I could think of.
Nobody's going to make me frightened in my own country.
