Are you superstitious? Or is it just another day to you? What weird and wonderful superstitions do you have? Do you go out of your way not to walk under ladders? I do!!!

Don't put new shoes on the table
Don't walk under ladders
Don't play cards on a Sunday
Don't open an umbrella indoors
Don't whistle in the dressing room
Don't say Macbeth
Don't say break a leg
Don't break a mirror
Just some mum instilled in me .....may be more to come if I can think of them as mum had heaps. :-) x

Even though I think Magpies are are striking looking birds, whenever I see one alone, I always salute & say "Morning Captain" or afternoon or evening, depending on the time of day!
On 8 Sep 1994, my husband & me were walking back to our hotel in Cyprus, when we saw a lone Magpie at the side of the road. I said to my husband "I hope that's not an omen" & carried on walking. As we opened the door to our room, there was a note on the floor asking us to phone either of our daughters. I did this, only to be told that my Dad had just died. I can't tell you the shock we both felt & had to wait two days for a flight home.
I still wonder if that Magpie was trying to tell us something....

Well the logic in me says there's really quite a lot of magpies out there and it's no big deal to see one but I usually make a point of saluting them or making sure someone else saw the little blighter. As birds I quite like them, they're very cheeky and I feel that means we have something in common. They also have a very small brain like myself!
I'm not sure if I've just go meself confused again (common occurence) but I think magpies were classed as unlucky as they were apparently the only bird that flew when Jesus was on the cross... But I'm not sure from what brain cell I've pulled that titbit from!
