For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.I don't know if it matters about the number of kids as such, what is the issue is that these people have been unskilled workers all their lives and so cannot even begin to earn the level of income necessary to support and house so many joint offspring. A hundred years ago when large families were more common, people woked for low wages but did not have aspirations of cars, holidays, washing machines etc, they coped and the priority was food and shelter, clothes were hand me downs and lasted . This family will be living with modern essintials that are infact luxuries on thier earning capacity.
