As much as I despise hunting as a sport, it would never cross my mind to find the death of people funny. I can see where you are coming from, but personnally I would have gladly exchanged the pheasants lives for those poor people's.

Well, if they hadn't been en route to a murdering spree it wouldn't have happened to them...so who else is to blame but themselves? I get no pleasure from it but I do think it's ironic. Had they bagged themselves a brace of pheasants each the birds deaths would have gone unnoticed.

Babz ,are you a vegetarian ?or a person that just buys meat ,chicken etc, as they come in a bag in the shop , they have to be killed one way or the other ,and the hunting fraternity spend a lot of money to do it . Im not a bloodsports person , hate it but you will never change things , the Europeans are the worst shoot anything that flies , go to Malta and see the song thrush and other wild birds hanging outside there houses in a little cages , now that's cruelty .

Yes, theonly one, I AM a vegetarian and no I don't buy or eat meat, chicken, fish or any other flesh nor does anyone in our household, nor are any guests served flesh. I abhor hunting, shooting, animal experimantation or exploition. I agree that the songbirds in Malta and the bulls in Spain too etc etc etc are treated cruelly, but that doesn't lessen the wrong done to so called "game" birds. And why do people put a suntan above ethics and go to such places as Malta and Spain that treat animals and birds so cruelly anyway???

Well I don't not go abroad as I have a disabled husband and it is it to much hassle , have not had a holiday for 10+ years .

Sorry to hear that, theonlyone, hope life isn't too hard. I'm tempted to have a self-pity-fest here and say my husband was disabled but I'm now a widow, but I suppose I'm nowhere near being the only one.

I agree with Spock. I shoot regularly, but only at targets, and I think pheasant murderers and hoity-toities should be wiped out, but only after they have voted for Boris. I would bring back rotten boroughs as well.

p.s if your going to spout your usual bunny hugging bilge then please get your facts right, it would be hard to shoot any game bird at the mo as the various seasons haven't opened yet. well i knew i was expecting those who stick their noses in under the animal rights banner to have even a rudimentary knowlege of country life let alone the wildlife itself. do us all a favor and leave the country to those of us who know what we are doing.
