I have heard someone i know has been put in a secured psychiatric ward and am wondering what the reasons are that people have to go into secured wards. TIA

He was sectioned as he had become a danger not only to himself, but also to my daughter and my grand children. It is so sad when this happens! My daughter and the children have been through hell and back. Secure units are absolutely essential in cases like this - to protect and treat the patient as well as to protect the family and allow them to find a way to rebuild their often shattered lives. I hope your friend gets the help he / she needs and wish them well.
