New Flatmate Rotten Feet

My lovely new flatmate has the most disgusting smelling feet I have ever known. She's pretty overweight and walks a lot but NEVER wears socks and when she comes in and puts her feet up, the smell is unbearable.

I joked about it and said mine were as bad (not!) so wore socks to cover smell and playfully threw some socks at her to wear in the house but she was slightly offended so now wears slippers but they are just as bad.

To add to this, she leaves the soiled cat poo tray in the kitchen all during tea time and also never cleaned it all night despite saying she would do it later.

I'm worried she might think I'm getting at her as some people get defensive.

Must be a bit intimidating, if not irritating, living with a perfectionist.

Of course she is going to be offended, just as you would if she pointed out all of your misgivings.

Perhaps you should sit down and dicsuss some 'flat rules' with her so that all occupants can air their grievances and get some basic agreement to what is acceptable and what is not.

I'm not a perfectionist, it's just basic manners and cleanliness but I agree, I'm going to have to bite the bullet and just tell her.. and if there's anything she doesn't like about me, it's ok... we'll just have to sort it.

you've already tried to tell her in a nice way and that hasn't worked so just be blatant about it and get it over with! if the smell is that unbearable the sooner you tell her the better!

Well I myself if she was close enough to live with would actually say to her. Your feet really smell and you need to start wearing socks when you got out or put footwear on, because its making me want to vomit

I've only known her a week... I met her on easyroomate.com. She IS lovely though...

Tell her straight,tell her to have a bath,and tell her to change the litter tray because it stinks just like her feet............

Awwwwwwwwwwww..... mr Ben.... so sweet.... actually no... she DOES eat SMASH though!!!!!! But we're going shopping on Saturday so I may get her some smellies.ie. foot deodrant!

Why not leave some smelly socks in the room one day when you have been to work. But, ,leave all the windows shut.
When she comes back and smells it, she may ask you what the smell is, thats your cue to say, you dont have a clue and crack a joke that it might be her feet.
That way, she wont be as hurt as you just saying to her that her feet smell...

foot deodrant only masks the smell, or could make the pong worse, try getting her to wear charcole (sp) insoles with her outdoor shoes and her slippers.
Also, cat faeces can be infected with Toxocara cati which, if your cat has not been wormed also affect humans and potentially can cause blindness in children, so keep the litter tray out of the kitchen
