The price of freedom.

I have never worked much since I left school, living mainly on benefits.
I have been offered a job, but the hours are 35 per week, with a 1 hour lunch break included, is this the average, as the hours seem a bit long?
I usually have three holidays per year, a month in Europe, two different countries and four weeks in the Far East in November.
Will I be allowed the same amount of time off, with pay, or do people have less holidays than this?
I would love to contribute more to society, but the thought of a full time job, really depresses me.
Your thoughts and advice, would be greatly appreciated, especially if it helps me, reach a decision.

how the hell are you affording all of this on benefits? i'm sorry but there is something dodgy going on with you? why dont you get your lazy arse a job and work like normal people do! 35 hours a week.... i used to work in a hotel working 65 + hours a week, some shifts 18 hours with no breaks! wake up and come into the real world!!!!

I would suggest rather than adopting babies, you adopt them when they're already old enough to go up chimneys; there's no point delaying their entry into what other posters have correctly identified as 'the real world'.

With your new information, I�m even more convinced you should become a priest. Just think, you get a lovely large vicarage, for free! And you can get everyone in the church to do all the decorating, so you and your family have more time to travel and sightsee around the country. But of course, don�t forget to be back by 1000am each Sunday � they like to see you there a few minutes early, just to show you�re serious about your work!

Why don't you start your own business? Then you can work whatever hours you want! You'll end up working at least 75 hours a week, have 3 seconds for lunch, do everything from consultancy to cleaning the toilets, and have 4 days holiday a year! Yay! Oh, and drive an old car and have no time to drink or smoke.

I never realised people worked such long hours and for so little reward.
It is all very well, everyone saying I should join the real world, but to work a 60 hour week, that is really scary, do they ever get out and enjoy themselves?
I have decided to decline the job offer, as it would leave me with very little leisure time, although circumstances may change in the future, when the little ones start arriving.
