Can you name one time that you can safely say was the most painful thing you have ever experienced in your life?? I mean physical pain. I have been through 3 open heart surgeries, Ive had pneumonia twice and numerous other procedures due to heart disease and I can safely say that this sinusitis that I have right now is the most PAINFUL thing ive ever had. I just want to rip my whole face off!!

I'd go for root canal treatment - I've had a couple where the anaesthetic hasn't worked, and that's no fun at all.

Abscesses- I could have quite cheerfully murdered someone when I had one of those on my gum/tooth several years ago. I still vividly remember waking up in the middle of the night, gobbling painkillers like toffees and rocking in bed, sobbing with the pain.

I also broke my wrist this summer and spent 8 painful weeks with offending arm in plaster, the first 4/5 weeks were in unbearable pain.

Get some Olbas Oil and put your head over a bowl of steaming water to shift that sinus !

Have had two natural, spontaneous births & the pain was soon forgotten once those little bundles of joy were placed in my arms!

Have had a few op's over the years, some minor some major. But the worst pain I have ever had in my life was passing a kidney stone!!!!

I would never want to go through that ever again!!!

Oooh I agree, I have very small tubes so whenever I get a cold it always ends up affecting my sinuses and ears and it is horrendously painful - feels like your face is in a vice doesn't it? I've just got over another bout of it, despite my ever helpful doctor telling me it was just a virus, the little ********! My sympathies are with you, you poor thing :(

Hi again tali - nearly forgot! I have been a chronic sinusitis sufferer for years, so do sympathise with you.

I've had many painful bouts of it & have been given antibiotics which help. I also use Otrivine nasal spray which helps me breath much easier &/or Sinutab which alleviates the head pain.

Having two babies (both natural births, no pain relief)brought tears to the eyes a bit, but that was nothing to when I collapsed with stomach pains, thinking I'd got appendicitis or worse. Turned out to be a twisted abdominal muscle - which required an injection to release it. If that wasn't bad enough - how about a tooth being pulled, despite the anaesthetic not working? I knocked the dentist into a wall!!!

Having been euphoric at ending crippling back pain by having surgery, my previously numb foot began a recovery. What began in hospital as a strange sensitivity of the skin evolved into excruciating pain which eventually my strongest back pain pills wouldn't touch. I would literally rock back and forth with it. I was told it would soon go.

In days I was awake virtually 24 hours and couldn't face eating. Some relief was achieved by strapping picnic ice blocks to my foot! Having exhausted all my pain killers I went to my doctor. I'd known her for years. She literally took one look at me, cried 'oh my God what happened to you' and dropped her pen.

She gave me a shingles treatment which crashed me for 2 days. I made it to the school fair a few days later. Nobody recognized me. In just a month I had lost over 30 pounds.

I sympathise with you too tonyted! As I said earlier, it was the worst pain I've ever experienced in my life, bar none!

My little finger taking the brunt of a metal bollard and me going on my bike at full speed was no fun. Dislocated in two places and my mate had to put it back.

Then there was the removal of a dressing after an operation which required gas and air.

However I've just epilated my arms.... At the moment that's winning.

I was saying that taliesman was asking about physical pain, it's right there in her (?) question..."physical pain", not emotional pain.

I totally agree that emotional pain, especially the kind you described is as debilitating and crippling. I know exactly how you felt at the time of your emotional pain, am I not myself going to a funeral for my grandsons tomorrow eh?

I had the most awful stomach pains a few years ago which turned out to be two huge ovarian cysts. It was agony. I have given birth twice and had no pain whatsoever. No contractions, nothing. It was an absolute doddle. I suppose i was just lucky !
