the only way of judging anyone on AB is by what they write. Fr Bill's posts were more temperate than most and his advice seemed pretty good to me. On that basis, it doesn't actually matter if he is a serial killer or Anthea Turner in disguise. Like everyone here, he's anonymous; the person you see may bear no relation to the real person, but it doesn't matter. All that matters on AB is what you actually see on AB. That's how the internet works.

When Fr.Bill posted , he supported a charity in Romania
so had a look on the net all legit , also lives in the same area as me so not a scammer . Oh ye of little faith ?

Jno, I think the dubious thing about Fr Bill was that he wasn't anonymous - he deliberately led people constantly to his various websites & blogs, giving his full details -address etc. and bank account details for donations!! The charity was not a UK registered charity either.

Has anyone noticed also that the blogs are all from a short period in 2006 - not sure why but none of them are recent. He seems to have stopped blogging in the Autumn of 2006 and then turned up here about 10 months later - again just for a few months!

Also found evidence when googling that he is American. I'm always a bit suspicious of American religous characters who belong to outsider groups rather than mainstream. He belongs to an independent group.

I would have felt a lot easier about him if he had been anonymous and hadn't even called himself "Father" Bill.

I have to agree with JK2 and also drisgirl.
He never caused me any problems, just the long threads that he used to write.
I also, like drisgilr, picked up on the fact that he only offered "Words of Comort" as you say, to certain people.
Others, he totally ignored. I have no idea if he did that on purpose.
Got to remember too, this is his profession, so has been trained to talk in a comforting manner.
Still, each to their own.

In 'Travel' -he has stayed in the best hotels in the world -he has done magnifecent deeds in Romania BUT he managed to post on here more than I could and I dont work (per se).Noce job if you can get it.
I dont doubt he exists at all - he simply stayed away from the cynics -me being one of them.

Human nature after all and when we are faced with heartbreaking news, we turn to whoever or whatever we can find to help us through it.
As I said, he is trained in his job to do that sort of thing.
With the rest of us, it all comes from the heart as we have all been there, done it, got the t shirt.
Not saying it didn't with Fr Bill but to laymen or as the case may be laywomen, we all feel when someone else is hurting and know what it feels like.

I for one dont care if I have been a doubting Thomasina.

I have watched ever since he came on here and doubted him .

The final nail so to speak -was what I perceive as a 'set-up' with old grape (and if i am wrong then i wont blame you for never talking to me again) -it was all too convenient and he wouldnt let anyone and I mean anyone near her.Leg tried to help and was 'shunned'.

I think he's a con and the majority of us didnt fall for it and he has moved on to the next site - there ive said it and i dont care.

Least what you get with me is I can assure you what you would get (plenty to vouch for that)
